5 ways to love yourself today

By Niamh Edmonstone, Nia Thomas and Elliot Meredew

We are all about self-love and self-care here at LLIO. Incorporating both into your routine will pave the way

for a positive, fulfilling mindset which, will manifest its way into all aspects of your life. From being kinder,

more appreciative of yourself, to mending and strengthening relationships in your personal life; we believe

self-love really is the foundations of a person’s happiness.

1. Have a bath

The act of bathing has been around for thousands of years; even before the reign of Cleopatra. Cleopatra

was the original self-care queen – she had quite the beauty routine. It is believed she bathed in sour

donkey milk to achieve her flawless complexation. Though this may work wonders, we recommend

something a little less pungent. Why not try our Love Yourself Rose Quartz Bath & Body Crystoil which, is a

magical blend of crystal charged essential oils to help you create the bath of your dreams.

2- Get some beauty sleep

We spend roughly one third of our life sleeping, so we might as well get good at it. Too many people forget

about the importance of a good night’s sleep. There are wonderous benefits to having a great sleep

routine. When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep may be the closest thing there is to a fountain of

youth. Your body repairs and recovers while you’re in the land of nod; less wrinkles, a glowing complexion

and brighter, less puffy eyes are some of the many benefits. You should aim for around 7-9 hours of sleep

per night however, if you struggle nodding off, we recommend our Sweet Dreams Amethyst Sleep Spray. A

spritz of this onto your pillow will help you drift off into a deep, spiritual, restorative sleep.

3- Take yourself on a date

We are often too reliant on others to bring us happiness. Why wait for someone else to have a weekend full

of plans? Put yourself outside your comfort zone and take yourself out on a date. Whether it’s to the

cinema, out for dinner or simply going for coffee– there are so many options. Even if you’re in a

relationship, it is still important to spend time on your own. It allows for personal growth and space to be

with your own thoughts without distractions. Though there are many mental benefits, who doesn’t want a

day where you can do exactly what YOU want to do, see what YOU want to see and eat what YOU want to

eat. Some would call it selfish; we call it self-love.

4-Meditate

Meditation is one of the easiest ways to practice self-love. You can do it almost anywhere and at any time.

There are countless studies that have demonstrated the tremendous benefits of mindful meditation.

Whether it’s reducing stress or increasing focus, research shows mindfulness works wonders. Mindfulness

helps you to live simply and slowly and be present in everything you do. Clearing your headspace and

releasing negative thoughts and energy will positively transform your mindset and in doing so - your life.

5-Nourish yourself

You may think that practicing self-love means spending a night on the sofa with your favourite take away

but unfortunately it doesn’t. Yes, once in while we all need a night like that, but that cannot become routine.

Self-love is not a momentary thing; it is small changes and activities that can enhance your life and

wellbeing in the long term. Eating a balanced diet and hydrating is one of the most significant daily

choices we can make, to ensure we take care of our bodies and minds. Love yourself from the inside out.
