OBISIDIAN

There are four different types of obsidian, black, golden, mahogany and snowflake. Though black obsidian

is dark in colour it is certainly not dark in its properties and healing powers. Often regarded as the stone of

truth, it evokes a sense of curiosity.

Treasured for its dark, glossy sheen by many cultures and civilisations used this crystal for tens of

thousands of years. It was first thought to be used during palaeolithic times as arrowheads and other

various tools. For the following years, it was used as a spiritual tool for stargazing and making prophesies.

It is often regarded as volcanic glass as it is formed from molten lava. It can be found from Europe to South

America, making it an internationally prized crystal.

Obsidian brings openness to the mind and incites exploration of the new and unknown. It is extremely

powerful in encouraging creativity and vision.  It increases self-control and allows you to confront and

discover your true self. It is also a powerful stone of protection, as it expels light on any dark, negative

energies it encounters. It leads the keeper towards light and guides them to a more fulfilling, positive path.

Due to its protective nature, it is the perfect stone to incorporate into a range of manifestations.

Its formidable healing properties make this a perfect crystal to meditate with. Whether you meditate with

the stone on your chest, place it in your space or even carry it with you the benefits of obsidian are

transformative. It connects to your base chakra which, is the first of the seven individual chakras in your

body. Located in the base of your spine, it is what keeps you feeling grounded and content.
