LLIO’s Tie Dye Ribbon

Tie-dye has been around forever, but it's recently made a comeback as one of the biggest fashion trends of 2019 and is staying around for 2020 too.  In the summer of 2019, major designers from Prada, Dior, Versace and Proenza revived tie-dye’s appeal on the catwalk with elevated forms of the psychedelic print in sophisticated silhouettes.  Celebrities have been spotted in tie dye, everyone from Gigi Hadid to Beyonce.

At LLIO we love Tie Dye!

However, at LLIO, we don’t like to see tie-dye “trending” - in our eyes we LOVE tie dye and it’s a wardrobe staple that always trends!  We’ve long worn tie-dye dresses and outfits in Ibiza for many summers and tie-dye jumpers in the Winters!

LLIO Loves Tie Dye!

We have always loved tie-dye so much we wanted to incorporate tie-dye into our packaging.  Our ribbon is tie-dye in print and designed by Poppy Waddilove.  Talented fashion illustrator and artist Poppy Waddilove turned our tie-dye dreams into reality and designed our ribbon.  Each of our oils contains crystals, rose quartz, Citrine, obsidian and amethyst, Poppy Waddilove created a tie-dye ribbon using the colour palette of the crystals.

Poppy Waddilove designed our ribbons, taking inspiration from the crystals we use in our LLIO bath & body oils.

We wanted to give a nod to the spiritual hippy world and of course Poppy Waddilove, who is recognised by Tatler, YOU Magazine and draws fashion illustrations for the catwalk Gucci show, was the right choice to use!

Tie-dye has a long history all the way back to India in 4000 B.C, with Indian Banhani dying.

The term bandhani is rooted from the Sanskrit verb bandh, which means “to tie”.  But tie dye is mostly remembered for gaining notoriety with woke US hippies of the 60’s and 70’s who wore rainbow swirls and bright colours.  Hippies in tie dye clothes symbolised individuality and a movement towards ‘‘peace & love’ who were against social norms and the Vietnam war!  Traditionally, tie-dye is made by tying bunches of fabric with waxed thread, so the dye only covers exposed areas - meaning no two pieces are ever the same and to bring out those delicious swirls.
